My name is Mike Salbego and the 21/22 season was our first with the MGM Wrestling Club.  My wife Kat and I have four kids, three sons (9,6,4), two current and one future Silver Spartan and one daughter (4) who is undecided on her wrestling future.  I fell in love with wrestling for so many reasons, but a few of the biggest ones are that I really don't think there is a sport that correlates better to real life/ a career than wrestling.  Sure you are part of a team and it's important that your team wins, but in order for your team to win you need to go out and do your job...by yourself...with no one to blame or point fingers at other than the person in the mirror!  The other biggest reason is that there is no sport that teaches you sportsmanship better than wrestling, win or lose (there are no ties) you get up and shake your opponent's hand and then go shake their coach's hand.

Although last year was our first year with MGM I was so impressed with the state of the club and the amazing work that has been done over the years to get it to the level it's at now.  When a spot on the board opened up I knew I wanted to be a part of it.  My goal as a board member is to do whatever I can to continue fostering a love and culture of wrestling however I can.  MGM is going to be a wrestling powerhouse and I'm so excited to be a part of it!
